Last September I was honored to help my friend
(and one of my favorite pickers), Brandi, style her
wedding reception. Brandi, like me, loves all things vintage
so a vintage style wedding was what she wanted.
Luckily, not only is Brandi a collector and vintage
lover...so are her parents! Her parents, Jim and Emma,
are two of my favorite people!
They have been collecting for years and have a beautiful home
filled with the most amazing vintage and antique treasures.
Brandi and I met at Jim and Emmas one Sunday
afternoon and "shopped" their house! Way too fun!!
We gathered everything that we would need to
create vintage centerpieces for 14 tables and to create an
old fashioned General Store themed candy buffet for favors.
We cleared off the kitchen island and I set up each
vignette/centerpiece for each table, including the table
number. Brandi photgraphed each one and packed
them in boxes, labeled with the table numbers. Later,
she printed the photos and attached them to each box.
This enabled Brandi and Emma to easily recreate the
centerpieces at the reception hall, while I set up the
Candy buffet. After everything was set and in place,
I went through and placed the greens, dried flowers,
pumkins, gourds and apples amongst the centerpieces.
The dried flowers and greens all came from Emmas
beautiful backyard gardens. We whipped through and set
all of this up in about 5 hours!!
This was the finished General Store Candy Buffet. The guests,
young and old, LOVED it! There was NO candy
left at the end of the evening.
We ordered these custom labels from a wonderful
them to brown paper lunch bags...
...the bags were placed in this adorable vintage, childs
shopping cart.Guests were able to grab
a bag and fill it with candy.
The candy was placed in vintage store candy jars, baskets
and on pretty vintage cake stands. I incorporated antique
scoops and other antique general store collectibles.
On to the centerpiece/vignettes for each table...
Each table had either a vintage scale or an ironstone or
silverplate vessel that was surrounded with
various vintage/antique treasures. I included a vintage lock
and key in each centerpiece as a nod to
the grooms profession...he's a professional locksmith.
The reception hall had a beautiful, yet baren fireplace.
I spruced that up with pumkins, gourds, fairy lights and greens
from Emma's garden, placed in galvanized metal buckets.
The mums and a few fresh flowers were provided by a local florist.
Brandi wanted to keep those "wildflowery"
so they would incorporate well with the dried
flowers and greens from her moms garden.
Lillies, Asters, Daisies and Heather, were placed on the
mantle in classic turquoise Ball jars.
Mission accomplished...Vintage Style Wedding.
Bride, groom and parents were all thrilled! The happy
couple went to Tahiti on their honeymoon and
they brought me back a beautiful
tahitian black pearl as a thank you!
